Gary Brown first developed interactive essay analysis software for San Diego State in 1984. He was among the first to develop learning management software and to implement online surveys and student evaluations.
His interest in teaching with technology ultimately led to his current position as the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Excellence and Director for the Center Online Learning at Portland State University.
Gary is co-director of AAEEBL, the international ePortfolio organization. And he also is a senior fellow with the Association of American Colleges and Universities where he has worked extensively with the VALUE project—a national assessment initiative—and as assessment lead on the Quality Collaboratives project, a national initiative exploring the Degree Qualification Profile as a way for using competencies rather than seat time as a way to articulate transfer between two and four year colleges.
