Richard Powell wants people to get more backbone so that they can design and develop better websites. OK. that’s Backbone, with a capital B, and a ‘.js’ at the end.
A UI developer and designer from Newcastle, UK, Richard will share the goodness of Backbone.js in his half-day workshop on “Backbone for Designers,” at WebVisions Barcelona. It’s a deep dive into Backbone.js, that starts with the basics and wraps with participants making their own Backbone-powered website. Along the way, Richard will help answer important questions like, “Why can’t you just use JQuery?” and “How does Backbone make your life easier and your code better?”
In the world of Big Data, data visualisation is becoming more and more important. “This field can teach us a lot more than just how to visualise data – or example, how to influence people effectively, how to open people’s eyes to unseen realities, how make the mundane seem interesting,” Richard says. “These are skills that are useful for design, for development, for business and for how we interact with colleagues and customers.”
True to form, Richard will want you to leave with a burning desire to “give data visualisation a go.” Well done.
