Emily has been the Director of Communications and Development for The LAMP (Learning About Multimedia Project) since 2008, overseeing areas such as fundraising, strategic partnerships, special events, business development, web content and marketing. By bringing hands-on media training and education directly to low-income communities and schools citywide, The LAMP is a leader in empowering people of all ages to be active participants in digital culture, and shape the media landscape. When she first began working with The LAMP, it was a volunteer-based startup holding staff meetings at kitchen tables; today, it has a full-time staff, office space in midtown Manhattan and serves roughly 900 New Yorkers annually.
She earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Dramaturgy and Script Development from Columbia University in 2006, and was born and raised in the Midwest. Emily currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband, and can be found online at emilymlong.com.
