Nathan is a pioneer in Experience Design, Interaction Design and Information Design, speaks and teaches internationally, and is a serial entrepreneur. His many books include Experience Design 1.1, Making Meaning, Design is the Problem, and the upcoming Make It So. He holds an MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School and a BS in Industrial Design from Art Center College of Design. He worked with Richard Saul Wurman at The Understanding Business and later co-founded vivid studios, a decade-old pioneering company in interactive media and one of the first Web services firms on the planet.
Dennis is senior vice president of brand and digital activation/general manager of festivals for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). He is responsible the digital teams for the three networks, as well as brand initiatives like TBS and Just For Laughs’ annual comedy festival in Chicago, the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood, the TCM Classic Cruise and TNT’s Dramatic Difference project. He is also responsible for brand-related commerce initiatives, such as TCM’s extensive online store.
Sherra is a degreed designer and perpetual advocate of design leadership. In her role as Director of User-Centered Design at Cadence Group, she works alongside librarians, records managers, and research professionals to support the creation and evolution of user-centric digital communication and knowledge management solutions.
J has been making websites and software for the web since 1998, and has been credited with creating several software features web designers and developers take for granted today. He's currently the VP of Operations at CoffeeCup Software and President of the Atlanta Web Design Group.
Jason is the Managing Director of User Experience for Forum One, an interactive agency applying technology in creative ways to build a more positive future. He is also a prolific writer, with numerous books and articles published about all aspects of digital media and culture including The CSS3 Visual Quickstart, Fluid Web Typography and Speaking in Styles: The Fundamentals of CSS for Web Designers.
Jason is a mobile web strategist, co-founder of CloudFour.com and MobilePortland.com, and co-author of Head First Mobile Web. Jason has a proven track record of identifying upcoming trends and positioning clients to take advantage of new technology. He specializes in helping customers determine the best way to accomplish their business objectives online.
Andrew Hinton is an Information Architect at The Understanding Group. An internationally recognized speaker and writer on IA and experience design, Andrew has designed information systems and interfaces for Fortune 500s, small businesses and non-profits alike, as both an internal employee and an external consultant.
When he is not writing on MIX Online, Nishant splits his time unevenly between: advising Microsoft teams on their Web strategy; contributing writings on design & human behavior to popular online publications like Smashing Magazine and UXMag; signing up for one-off projects like leading the ground-up redesign of Channel9; and, taking on the occasional speaking gig.
Victor started his career in information technology, building systems at the Boston Consulting Group, DDB Needham, and others. He went on to work as a user interface designer, contributing to over 40 software and Internet products. As a manager at Razorfish and a co-founder of the Management Innovation Group he consulted with companies such as General Electric, Cisco, and J.P. Morgan.
Thor is CTO and co-founder of Get Satisfaction who founds and advises startups that make a difference to real people. He’s a Web pioneer who bridges design and technology, and a true believer in social entrepreneurship.
Phil is senior vice president of programming and scheduling for TNT and TBS. In this capacity, he is responsible for overseeing all programming, scheduling and acquisition selection strategies for the two networks
Thomas is the senior product manager for fonts and typography at Extensis. He has long been involved in the design, technical, forensic, business and historical aspects of type, as well as font standards development. His typeface Hypatia Sans is an Adobe Original.
Russ Unger is a User Experience consultant in the Chicago area. He has experience working in consulting environments and on internal teams in agencies, advertising firms and as an independent designer. His workshops and presentations have been attended and put to use by a variety of companies and well-known brands, from lean start-ups to large corporations.
Bruce provides strategy, vision, and leadership for Second Story's creative output. He helps establish new initiatives and creative directions, along with providing leadership to oversee the efficient, collaborative execution of the interaction design development processes.
The event kicks off with studio tours and networking parties on Thursday, followed by a full day of sessions and panels.
