Ethnography is defined as “research designed to explore cultural phenomena“, and its key to the work of WebVisions speaker Tomer Sharon. Tomer is a Senior User Experience Researcher at Google Search in New York City. He uses ethnographic research to better understand users and to describe their social worlds. “Ethnography can be done in many ways and flavors, by many people, not just researchers, and in different times along product development.” Tomer said. “It can have many goals, affect product road maps and decisions in many ways, and it gets best results when done in the environment relevant to our users and their context.”
This year at WebVisions, Tomer’s keynote “WWE Ethnography: Let’s Get Ready To Rumble!” will explore how the results of an ethnographic study might be reported. Tomer says he wants to inspire the audience to consider ethnography as a tool that can help them make the world a better place.
