Certain apps, for me, are indispensable. Being directionally challenged, Google Maps have pretty much saved me from the constant fate of being lost in unfamiliar territory. My Trip Advisor app has helped me locate good food and decent places to rest my head. An app called Metro is my Google Map equivalent of the world’s major city public transportation systems, once again saving me from my complete lack of an internal compass.
Over at Wired, they’ve laid out eight that they prefer for those globe trotters (like WebVisions Brad Smith, who’ll be in London and Berlin next month). The City Notes app for iOS looks particularly interesting for those looking to squeeze the best out of the different cities they’re visiting. At $2 per city, it can add up kind of fast if you’re a serious traveler. But it’s beautiful and looks packed with info.
