Word came down from on high today that a myriad of tech companies have decided that government spying is cramping everyone’s style. After all, having the government peek on on World Of WarCraft and Second Life users can’t be good for business. Especially when they’ve got so many spies conducting intelligence inside these games that they to create a “deconfliction” group to keep them from spying on each other.
Not that big tech has a problem with spying on users or invasion of privacy. They do it all the time.
The announcement by big tech seems to have pushed the internet into talking about stuff that Cory Doctorow has been on for many months. Is this the tipping point that shakes users out of their surveillance complacency?
