It’s been an exciting day full of valuable theoretical and practical information. It’s always exciting when you walk out of a session feeling like you know more and are better prepared because of it, and that’s how I’m feeling about today.
David’s talk titled “Sensory Transformation: How to Sip from the Information Firehose”, is about coping with cognitive overload, and staying tuned in to your networks without drowning in the sea of information that will become increasingly more complex.
He talked out the end of cyberspace. It’s changing from a place you go, to being all around us. He touched on mobile technology increasingly providing us with location based information, and the increasing visualization of data.
So how are people coping with this increasing sensory overload?
David talked about Life Hacking, and drugs like ritalin that students are using to help them focus on their studies. He also talked about tools, and implants that could be used to help people cope with cognitive overload.
All in all this was a compelling talk and and a great cap to day one. If day two is half as good as this we’re all in for a treat.
